Has Any Doctor Ever Described the Cause of Your Child’s Condition?
This is important information to MyChild™; the more we can learn about your child and the cause of his or her condition, the more help we can provide. MyChild™ Lifetime Benefits may be available if your child was harmed by an avoidable medical mistake.
What if You Already Know the Cause of Your Child’s Condition?
In the past, you may have been told something about the cause of your child’s condition. You may have been informed, for instance, that the cause was genetic, congenital, or just something your child was unexplainably born with. You may have even been told the cause of your child’s condition was due to something you ate or drank, or something you did or failed to do during the pregnancy. Do not be deterred. Always listen to your doctors, of course, but to learn the cause of your child’s condition, get a second opinion, a MyChild™ opinion.
Let the dedicated team of caring professionals at MyChild™ provide you with the an opinion you can trust, and then you, and you alone will determine whether to take action to correct a potential wrong and improve the quality of life for you, and for your child. What is the MyChild™ Medical Legal Review Process?
It takes a series of complicated questions to begin to analyze the cause of your child’s cerebral palsy, Erb’s palsy, or other neurological condition. Ultimately, the MyChild™ dedicated team of medical and legal experts will need to review the medical records to determine the cause of your child’s condition.
To start the process, however, take a few minutes and try to answer the following questions:
- Did my child suffer any injury before, during, or even after birth?
- Did the doctors or nurses fail to order and/or fail to interpret any specific tests or studies during my pregnancy and/or during my labor?
- Did the doctors or nurses fail to notice any changes in my baby’s heart rate during pregnancy?
- Did the doctors or nurses fail to diagnose any changes in my baby’s heart rate during delivery?
- Did the doctors or nurses fail to perform an emergency C-section when they knew or should have known that my baby was in fetal distress?
- Did the doctors or nurses fail to deliver my baby in a timely manner after my labor had gone for much longer than it should have?
- Was there any meconium (fecal material) in my fluids when my water broke?
- During my pregnancy, did I develop an infection that placed my baby at risk, such as German measles, Toxoplasmosis, Rubella, or a urinary tract infection (UTI)?
- Did my doctor withhold medication and tell me not to worry about the infection?
- Was my blood evaluated for Rh incompatibility?
- Was my baby delivered with forceps or with a vacuum extraction device?
- Was my baby injured by the forceps or vacuum extractor?
- Was my baby stuck in the birth canal, and did this go on for very long?
- Did the placenta rupture?
- Did I have preeclampsia/hypertension during the pregnancy or during my labor that was not treated quickly or appropriately?
- After my water broke, did it take more than 24 hours to deliver my baby?
- Did I have a fever that was 100.4 F or greater during the pregnancy, or during my labor?
- If the baby was born prematurely, were drugs used to stop premature labor or to advance the growth of my baby’s lungs?
- At birth, did my baby have jaundice?
- At birth, did my baby cry on his or her own?
- At birth, did my baby require resuscitation or assistance with breathing?
- Was my baby admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit?
If you responded “Yes” to any of these questions, it is possible that a MyChild™ medical legal expert will feel that your child’s cerebral palsy, or any other neurological complication, may have been avoidable with different care. If the medical staff failed you and your child in any way, you may be entitled to MyChild™ Lifetime Benefits.
