Dancing ballerinas, little league sports, and new friends: These are the icons associated with childhood. When a parent’s hopes and dreams for their child’s future are in doubt, it can be a source of pain for parents. Luckily, a sea change in how people perceive disability and how diverse populations are accepted has ensured that these staples of childhood are within the grasp of children with cerebral palsy. With a little creativity, some resources and the ability to re-conceive how children participate and interact, all of the seminal experiences that make a child happy and whole are accessible to all children – no matter their level of ability.
