If there’s a chance to improve one’s circumstances or improve one’s happiness, it’s most likely because an opportunity has presented itself. Opportunities, however, can be difficult to recognize because they are dressed as obstacles, situations, or conundrums. The reason that these can be considered opportunities is because they give us a chance to learn about ourselves, and what we’re made of. In every situation, there is an opportunity to improve the quality of our lives and our outlook on events that might have stripped us of our optimism.
Acceptance
When a child with a disability reaches adulthood, feelings about acceptance by others may linger. If young people learn to accept themselves during their formative years, explore interests, form friendships, accomplish, interact, and socialize at age-appropriate stages, it can help empower a sense of belonging when they’ve grown.
