Our final craft suggestion is another great way to capture your child’s size and age in a memorable way this Halloween holiday season! Our craft uses your child’s handprints for a spooky bat design that easily goes alongside those of other family members, while also providing an easy opt-in for children of all ages and abilities. Handprint Bat
Entry Level:
Supplies:
- Blue and black paper
- Black paint
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue
- Paint brush
- White crayon
- Who’s That?

Step 1:
Draw a circle and ears on the black paper.
Step 2:
Cut out the circle and ears.
Step 3:
Paint the child’s right hand black.
Step 4:
With the paper horizontal, press the painted hand onto the blue paper so the fingers point right.
Step 5:
Paint the child’s left hand black.
Step 6:
Press the painted hand onto the blue paper so the fingers point left. Leave enough room for the bat’s body (the circle from step 1 and 2) in between the hands on the craft.
Step 7:
Glue the bats body in between the handprints on your craft.
Step 8:
Glue the googly eyes onto the bat’s body.
Step 9:
Draw a smile onto the bat’s body.
Advanced Level:
Supplies:
- Blue, yellow, and black paper
- Black paint
- Googly eyes
- Scissors
- Glue

- White crayon

Step 1:
Complete steps 1 and 2 of the entry level version of the craft.
Step 2:
Draw a circle onto the yellow paper. It should be large enough to almost touch the long sides of the paper.
Step 3:
Either the adult or child can cut out the yellow circle.
Step 4:
Let the child glue the yellow circle onto the center of the blue paper. The yellow circle represents the moon in this craft.
Step 5:
Complete steps 3-6 of the entry level version onto the blue paper.
Step 6:
Apply glue to the bats body.
Step 7:
Have the child apply the body onto the paper in between their hand prints.
Step 8:
Apply glue to the googly eyes.
Step 9:
Allow the child to apply the eyes onto the bats body.
Step 10:
With the white crayon, let the child draw the smile onto the bats body. The adult might have to draw the fangs on the smile.
