As many of our community members already know, the entire concept of MyChild and CerebralPalsy.org was to create and foster a dynamic resource to help parents of children with CP. Far too often, there are needs or simple requests for even general information that fall through the cracks because governmental agencies, charities or foundations, are unable or unwilling to help. Even when programs are available to help, finding them amid the Internet’s clutter can be too difficult. MyChild serves to help break down these barriers to securing information. As a result, we’ve helped tens of thousands of families in the years since we started. However, we are now taking one additional step forward with the MyChild Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
The mission of MyChild Cerebral Palsy Foundation (MCCPF) is two-fold:
- To reduce and eventually eliminate the incidence of Cerebral Palsy; and,
- To mitigate or reduce the damaging effects of Cerebral Palsy through research geared toward better therapies, medications, and treatments.
MCCPF is a not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization governed by a board of medical and research experts who are committed to mitigating, treating, and preventing or finding a cure for Cerebral Palsy. The Foundation accepts donations and responsibly invests those donations through an ongoing grant review process. The MyChild Cerebral Palsy Foundation board awards grants for innovative projects that share our mission of making a difference in the lives of people with Cerebral Palsy and their families.
Our Foundation also strives to provide the most comprehensive online resources available for families affected by Cerebral Palsy and professional caregivers whose patients suffer from the condition. These resources include information on government benefits, educational resources, Web-based communities and discussion groups for Cerebral Palsy, and more.
Approximately three babies out of every 1,000 born in the United States develop Cerebral Palsy. MCCPF was founded to positively impact the lives of people affected by Cerebral Palsy while advancing efforts to treat and cure the disorder.
Each instance of Cerebral Palsy has unique aspects, and our Foundation seeks to fulfill the needs of patients, their families, and medical professionals by providing donors a trusted framework for giving and financially supporting grant seekers who present the most promising projects.

Underlying the stated objective of our foundation is the deeply rooted commitment to help every child with Cerebral Palsy achieves their full potential. While this is aspirational, we also wanted to incorporate a critical component of why MyChild works into our foundation’s efforts. That component involves making the most out of every little bit to accomplish something great. Just as each bit of information we come across makes its way into our kits, eBooks and general assistance, so too can donations, however small, play a part in our larger efforts.
The MyChild Cerebral Palsy Foundation seeks to help through efforts like,
- Providing funding for research and development of adaptive equipment and other products aimed to help in improving function for every child with CP
- Fund research regarding the cause and impact of CP, as well as its risk factors and measures/treatments post-diagnosis
- Providing funding for research and development of medications, drug therapies, and medical equipment or devices
- Providing funding for research and development of improved treatment and therapy plans aimed at improving mobility, functionality, speech, social skills, etcc.
We are not seeking to gain funding from the Cerebral Palsy community at large but, instead, serve as a conduit of change on behalf of that community. If you are looking to start a fundraiser, raise awareness or simply make a minor donation in support of the Cerebral Palsy community at large, contact us today.
We are truly excited about this next step for our organization and the good we hope to bring to the world through the work and effort of advocates, parents, and all individuals living with Cerebral Palsy and anyone else that is motivated to prevent this condition and helping those who bravely confront it each and every day!
